When I did have My lingerie paysite, these two companies were essential to things running smoothly and I just felt like doing a blog post about them.
CCbill is a credit card processing company and I signed up for an account with them way back in 2003. At the time, and for about the first 6 months, I only accepted Mastercard, JCB and one or two other cards. In order for them to process Visa for Me, I had to pony up a $750.00 fee. I believe about 6 months prior, or so, Visa started imposing that fee on sites that produced ‘adult content’. I did a quick Google search and found an old article on Forbes about this, here is the cached version. A quote from that article:
“Chargebacks, one of the biggest headaches of processing credit cards for porn sites, typically occur when, say, someone’s wife finds out he’s been buying porn. Rather than owning up, the aggrieved party tells the credit-card company that he’s shocked–shocked–that someone else was purchasing porn on his card, and demands that the charges be removed.”
Uh-huh….and I’ve had to deal with My share of chargebacks over the years. I can understand it when it’s genuine fraud, but I know that they all weren’t fraud.
Anyhow, I couldn’t justify paying it right away as I didn’t even know if there would be an interest in a non-nude, lingerie tease site. Well….some tame and tasteful nudity came in eventually. 😉 But when I realized there was a definite interest in My site, the $750 was a good investment as it paid for itself in no time.
And over the 12+ years that CCbill processed credit cards for My site, I have only good things to say about them and highly recommend them as a credit card processor.
The other company is Bettercgi, which offers a few different products but I used their Strongbox and Throttlebox to monitor logins, downloads and all of that good stuff that an adult webmaster (webMistress!!) should keep on top of. It helped Me crack down on fraud and password traders so many times and it was the BEST program I ever used in regards to that. (I had tried a few different ones over the years, but none of them gave Me the control that Strongbox and Throttlebox did). Plus Ray and Ali were SO helpful and patient with My technical questions. I just have to give them a shoutout! 🙂
And now I’m at Clips4Sale and I’m very happy there and although there are minor glitches from time to time, overall their customer service is great and very helpful.
Listen, in this day and age, shitty customer service is pretty common, so I just felt like mentioning companies that deserve kudos!
